To end disposable plastic straws, utensils and plastic bag use in Indonesia by
selling Glass straws, Wooden Utensils & Recycled Eco Reusable Bags to tourists,
hotels and local restaurants.
We are gifting re-usable straws to family beach restaurants to reduce the plastic straw
waste that we have seen on the beaches in Bali and other islands. Once that mission
is accomplished we will move inland. We have also launched a buy one get one free bag
campaign. The point of sale instruction reads: “Buy one bag and get one bag for free,
but please give your free bag to a Balinese.”
Bali has some serious issues with trash, particularly when it comes to plastics
and non-organic dyes. The cases the straws, utensils and bags come are designed
with conscious fabric production in mind. They are made with 50% – 100% organic
fabrics and colored with 100% organic dyes or factory remnants and recycled
fabrics. Using a powerful vote that each and every one of us get to make every
day, the vote of the dollar, we can encourage the growth of the organic fabric,
dye and recycling businesses of Bali.
BeOrganic.Me is affiliated with Bali Angels, a Profit For All Company
that makes Eco Designs with the slogan “Products that show you care”.
We work with “Cahaya Mutiara” foundation or Shinning Pearl for people with
disabilities. We provide Vocational Employment Program’s with tools
as well as materials to make beautiful art, music and products so that
they can cultivate independence, confidence, pride and love. We have
renovated the gallery space and made a functional restaurant as well.
Several members sew the covers for the straws, utensils and bags, at
the SewOp we created and the members also run the accounting, sales
and distribution of our line of BeOrganic.Me in Indonesia.
In 2003 Glenn Adams BeOrganic.Me’s founder and ecopreneur donated an old
school space in Tampaksiring, north of Ubud to help start the Cahaya Mutiara (Shinning Pearl) Foundation. They started with 23 people with different abilities . On February 14th 2012 On Glenn’s Daughter Gaia’s Birthday he decided to renovate the gallery space and make a functional restaurant as well. This has boosted charitable donations as well as establish a place for more people to meet and learn about how they can support this conscious creation movement.
On Sept 11, 2012 Glenn renewed the lease for another 10 years he chose the
date 9/11 as a way to say that the world is changing for the better and we
can all be the change we want to see in the world. Glenn loves Mahatma Gandhi
principles and philosophies and aspires to make the world a better place for all.
Glenn Adams formed Bali Angels as a charitable wing of his Gaia Retreat Center
with the high-minded idea of making Bali a model of what he calls “Heaven on
Earth.” Bali Angels is about creating heaven on earth, one angel at a time.
By tithing the wealth of The Gaia Retreat Center to generate revenue for
charitable initiatives (yayasans), Bali Angels has been able to donate a
playground to the Ubud community next to Palange School, support a self-directed
community for people with disabilities, Cahaya MUtiara, as well as providing support for making of the movie ” Bali is my Life,”.In 2011 Bali Angels joined the campaign to rouse support of the Bali community to Vote for Ibu Robin of the
Yayasan Bumi Sehat and she was successfully elect the CNN’s Hero of the year.
The main focus of Bali Angels in 2012 and beyond is a new eco tourist destination
called “Imagine”. This has been conceived and is being designed as premier
eco-tourist destination for tourists from around the world to visit while
vacationing on Bali. Just 5 minutes away from all the famous temples in
Tampak Sering, this new sacred space already has a restaurant and art
gallery run by the Specially Enabled Balinese of Cahaya Mutiara. The goal
is to establish a Botanical Garden using Permiculture and HomaGrown Aquaponics
to grow our own organic food. This idea and inspiration was named after
Mr. Adams favorite Artist John Lennon who’s song “Imagine” has sparked
his dream of “all the people sharing all the world”.
Using the planet healing practice of Agnihotra and Homa Therapy in combination
with the farming technique called Aquaponics we are planning the design and
construction a community gardening platform which will be coordinated by
HomaGrown founder Robert Bagnall. It is expected that this farming platform
will enable Senanghati to produce all of it’s food needs for the residents
as well as for the needs of the restaurant which currently receives guests
who also make donations and purchase the Arts and Crafts produced by Cahaya Mutiara residents.
The addition of HomaGrown Aquaponics will attract tourists as well as local peopleto see the garden that can produce abundant food with less
money, in less time, using less space, less water and all with less stress
as it will automated to large extent.
